About

Horticultural knowledge, applied with care.

I’m Owen, a professional horticulturist based in Penarth. I specialise in plant-rich gardens and enjoy working with people who want something more considered than conventional garden maintenance.

My qualifications include the Kew Diploma in Horticulture and RHS Level 3, alongside extensive professional experience caring for complex ornamental planting. As Head Gardener at Horatio’s Garden Wales, I have worked closely with acclaimed garden designer Sarah Price, developing and caring for her naturalistic planting.

I bring that combination of horticultural knowledge and practical experience to every garden I work in — whether carefully pruning a favourite shrub, refining an established planting scheme or developing an entire border.

Approach

A garden should get better with time.

My approach is horticultural rather than simply cosmetic: understanding how plants grow, pruning them at the right time, improving conditions where necessary and helping the whole garden develop from season to season.

I work primarily in Penarth and also take on selected gardens in Cardiff.

From tomatoes and chillies to herbs and fruit, productive growing can be practical, attractive and deeply satisfying.
